Truck Coloring Pages – 34 Big Rigs, Dump Trucks and Tow Trucks
Trucks are built for work, and that is what makes them fun to color. In this collection you will find a big rig with its sleeper cab, a dump truck tipping a load of gravel, a tow truck with its amber lights, a garbage truck, a tanker and more. Every sheet has clear outlines and room for your own colors. Some are simple shapes for small hands. Others are detailed scenes with mirrors, wheels and trailers for older kids and grown ups.

The Big Rig
Semi Truck with Box Trailer

A big-rig semi truck seen from the front left, hauling a long box trailer. The cab has a slatted grille, a large side mirror and a sleeper roof fairing, and two fluffy clouds float above. The trailer’s wide, empty side is an open area for bold color or stripes.
Semi Truck Cab Front View

Head-on view of a big-rig cab on a highway, with a wide horizontal-slat grille, twin headlights and two tall exhaust stacks. A blank overhead road sign sits behind it, and dashed lane marks run along the road. The blank sign panel is a good spot for a bold color.
Driver Connecting Trailer Air Hose

A driver in a cap and high-visibility vest kneels between a semi tractor and its trailer, plugging a coiled air hose into the trailer’s connector. A chain-link fence, two clouds and a few pebbles fill the yard behind. The dense fence mesh and the vest’s reflective stripes are fine work.
Driver’s View Through the Windshield

A first-person view from the driver’s seat, with two hands gripping a large steering wheel in front of two round gauges. A teddy bear charm dangles from the rearview mirror, and a gear stick and two side air vents sit at the edges. Beyond the windshield, a straight road with a dashed center line runs toward the horizon under low clouds.
Tanker Truck and Box Trailer Rig

Two semi trucks travel in opposite directions on separate lanes. The upper one hauls a round-ended tank trailer with three bands, and the lower one pulls a large box trailer. Behind them are a rolling hill and a single cloud. The wide, blank side of the box trailer is an easy area for a big color.
Dump Trucks and Loads
Dump Truck Unloading Gravel at the Pit

A dump truck with its bed raised on a hydraulic arm slides a load of rocks out the open tailgate onto a growing heap. Six wheels sit under the truck, and cliffs with bushy treetops rise behind it while large boulders fill the foreground. The big boulders and the truck’s wide bed are bold, open shapes, while the small rocks in the pile are fiddlier.
Loaded Dump Truck with Rock Cargo

A three-quarter view of a dump truck with its bed tilted slightly and heaped with rounded rocks. The cab has a large windshield, a slatted grille and a side mirror, and two rolling hills rise behind. The bed’s panel ribs are wide open areas, and the small rocks in the load need a steadier hand.
Log Truck on a Forest Road

Three thick logs with round, ringed ends are stacked on a flatbed and held by upright posts and a hanging chain. Two tall exhaust stacks rise behind the cab, and fir trees stand along the curving road. The chain links are small and fiddly, while the logs and tires are wide, easy areas.
Flatbed Truck Hauling Hay Bales by a Barn

Nine rectangular hay bales with ragged, straw-like edges are stacked in three tiers on a flatbed truck and held down by two buckled straps. A gambrel-roofed barn with an X-braced door and rolling hills sit behind, and a tuft of loose hay fills the foreground.
Farmer Waving in Pumpkin Harvest Truck

A smiling farmer in a brimmed hat waves from the window of a vintage truck whose slatted bed is piled with ribbed pumpkins. A pumpkin stand with three more pumpkins sits at the right, two clouds hang above, and three maple leaves lie on the ground below. The pumpkins and tires are large, easy shapes, while the farmer’s face and the grille lines are smaller.
The Tow Truck
Tow Truck with Boom and Hook

A tow truck seen from the front left, with a slanted boom arm that ends in a large curled hook on a short chain. A light bar sits on the cab roof, the grille has three horizontal slats, and two puffy clouds float above. The wide outlines make this an easy sheet.
Tow Truck Hauling a Broken-Down Car

On a curving country road, a waving driver in a safety vest steers a tow truck that lifts a hatchback with its hood up by a chain from the boom. A warning triangle stands in the foreground, with a wooden fence and rolling hills behind. The many small details, like the engine under the hood and the dashed road markings, make this a medium-difficulty sheet.
Flatbed Tow Truck Loading a Hatchback

In side view, a flatbed tow truck has tilted its bed into a ramp, and a small hatchback is partway up it. The truck has three axles and a hydraulic lift arm under the bed. A big round sun and two rolling hills fill the background. Large, open shapes keep this sheet easy to color.
Tow Truck Rescuing Car from Muddy Ditch

A tow truck on the road winches a small car out of a muddy ditch with a cable running from its boom. Puddles, mud clumps and two fallen branches fill the foreground, with bare trees, a wooden fence and a cloud behind. The many small details make it a medium-difficulty sheet.
Tow Truck Delivering Car to Garage

A mechanic in a cap and overalls waves beside a garage with a roll-up door while a flatbed tow truck slides a small hatchback down its tilted ramp. A puffy cloud floats above and a curb runs along the bottom. The mechanic’s overalls and the garage door slats make good spots for contrasting colors.
Garbage and Tanker Trucks
Garbage Truck Rear Loader

Seen from the rear three-quarter angle, a garbage truck shows its tall packer body, a hydraulic lift arm with a cylinder, and a wide rear bumper. Three axles with double rear wheels stand on a curbed road under two puffy clouds. The big flat body panels are easy to fill, while the lift arm and wheels are the finer parts.
Garbage Crew Emptying Wheelie Bins

Two sanitation workers in high-visibility vests tip a wheelie bin into the back of a garbage truck’s lifting frame. Three more lidded bins with ribbed sides stand in the foreground, with suburban houses, a scalloped hedge and two clouds behind. The reflective stripes on the vests and trouser legs suit contrasting colors.
Recycling Truck with Three Wheelie Bins

A side-view recycling truck with a long segmented body and a rear lifting frame drives along a suburban street. Three wheelie bins with hinged lids and small wheels line the foreground, and three gabled houses with chimneys and cross-paned windows stand behind. The three identical bins are large, open shapes, so this sheet is easy to color.
Tanker Truck on a Hilly Road

A rigid tanker truck is drawn in a three-quarter front view. The long cylindrical tank has a round hatch on top and a rung ladder up the side, and the truck has a big windshield, a grille with horizontal slats and three axles. Two rounded hills rise behind it. The tank and cab are large, open shapes, so the sheet is easy to color.
Milk Tanker Truck Beside a Dairy Barn

A smiling spotted cow stands behind a wooden fence next to a barn with X-braced double doors, while a side-view milk tanker with two roof hatches and three wheels sits on the road below. The blank tank barrel is one big surface, so it works well for a metallic or pastel color.
Car Hauler, Reefer, Van
Car Carrier Truck with Six Cars

Six small hatchback cars ride on the two-level rack of a car carrier truck as it drives down a road with dashed lane markings. A traffic light with three round lamps stands at the right, and two puffy clouds fill the sky. The cars are small and detailed, so this sheet suits steady hands.
Worker Guiding Sedan onto Car Carrier Ramp

A worker in a reflective safety vest stands with one hand on the trunk of a sedan as it rolls up the ramp of an open car carrier truck. The steel frame of the two-level rack towers overhead, and a low bush line and painted parking lines sit behind. The frame is drawn in fine, thin lines, so this one takes a steady hand.
Refrigerated Box Truck with Snowflake

A three-quarter view of a refrigerated delivery truck, with a cooling unit that has three vent slots on top of the cab and a big six-armed snowflake on the box side. Two round clouds float above, and the truck sits on a plain ground line. The large, empty box side is one wide area for even color.
Delivery Driver Carrying a Parcel to a Front Door

A smiling delivery man in a cap steps onto the porch stairs with a taped cardboard box in both hands. Behind him, a van with its sliding side door open shows three stacked parcels, and a rounded bush stands beside the house. The wide van body and the bold outlines are easy to color, so this sheet suits beginners.
Movers Carrying a Sofa Down a Truck Ramp

Two movers in caps carry a two-cushion sofa down a ramp from the open back of a moving truck, with a small house, a tree and two clouds behind them. Three taped cardboard boxes sit in the foreground. The sofa’s cushion seams and the ramp’s cross slats give some smaller areas to fill.
Delivery Truck Unloading Fruit Crates at a Café

Outside a café with a scalloped striped awning and a patio umbrella, a smiling driver in a cap pushes a hand truck holding a crate of round fruit. The box truck behind him has its raised side hatch open on six stacked crates, and three more fruit-filled crates sit in the foreground. The crates’ slatted sides and handle cutouts give a bit of fine detail.
Road and Rest Stop
Three Trucks at a Fuel Stop

A dump truck, a tanker and a garbage truck stand side by side in marked parking bays, facing the viewer. A fuel pump with a long looping hose stands in the foreground, and a lamp post, a low station building and three clouds fill the background. The grilles and the many windows give plenty of fine lines, so this one is best for confident colorers.
Tanker Truck Crossing a River Bridge

A tanker semi with three hatches on its barrel tank drives along a bridge on thick concrete piers, with rolling hills behind and a wooden rail fence in front. Wavy lines mark the river below. The large tank and the wide water are open areas that suit younger colorers.
Dump Truck on a Winding Mountain Road

A rock-laden dump truck rounds a curve on a winding mountain road, seen from a three-quarter front angle. A guardrail with round posts runs along the front, a rocky cliff rises on the right, and two clouds and layered mountain ridges fill the sky. The wide truck body and open sky are easy to color, while the pile of rocks in the bed suits a few shades of gray and brown.
Night Drive Semi Truck Under a Full Moon

A semi truck with a box trailer drives up a sloping road at night, its headlight beams cutting two straight lines ahead. A large cratered moon with six craters and seven stars fill the sky above a rolling hill. The big blank side of the trailer leaves a wide open area for coloring.
Dump Truck in a Car Wash Tunnel

Inside an automatic wash bay, a dump truck sits between two tall side brushes and a horizontal roller brush, with soap foam on its hood and bed. A foamy bucket and round bubbles of different sizes fill the floor in front. The many small foam clouds call for careful, fine coloring.
Patterns
Long-Nose Semi Truck with Twin Exhaust Stacks

A conventional semi truck with a long hood and box trailer, drawn from the front left with no background. Two tall exhaust stacks rise behind the cab, and the grille has seven horizontal slats. The rear tandem wheels sit under the trailer. The large flat trailer side and the wide bumper are open shapes that suit bold, even coloring.
Dump Truck Wheel Mandala

A round mandala shaped like a wheel, with four small dump trucks and four five-point stars in a ring around a hub. The hub has six bolt circles around a large center circle. The outlines are clean and the shapes are medium-sized, so the sheet suits a relaxed, steady coloring session.
Five Truck Types in Large and Small Pairs

Ten trucks in five pairs, each shown once large and once small: a dump truck with a tipped bed, a tanker, a tow truck with a hook, a garbage truck and a box truck. Every cab has a slatted grille and six wheels, and the outlines are clean. The big trucks give roomy areas to color, and the small copies suit a finer touch.
All About Trucks
Where the Name Comes From
The word “truck” most likely traces back to the Latin trochus and the Greek trochos, both meaning “wheel.” That fits a vehicle whose whole job is to keep wheels turning under a heavy load. In Britain the same vehicle is called a lorry, and in German it is the LKW, short for Lastkraftwagen. Whatever the name, the shape is easy to recognize: a cab up front, a big body or trailer behind, and plenty of wheels underneath.
How a Big Rig Works
A semi, or big rig, is really two parts. The tractor unit has the cab and the engine. The trailer carries the cargo. They meet at the fifth wheel coupling, which sits over the rear axle of the tractor. Air hoses and an electrical cable link the two, so the trailer gets brakes and lights. When the trailer stands alone, it rests on two fold-out support legs. Look for them when you color a trailer that is parked without a tractor.
Turning takes skill. The trailer follows the tractor along a tighter curve, so the driver swings wide in corners to keep the back wheels off the curb. Big trucks also have a sleeper cab behind the driver’s seat, where the driver can rest during the legally required breaks.
Tow Trucks, Dump Trucks and Tankers
The first tow truck was built in 1916 by Ernest Holmes Sr. in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Three years earlier, he had needed ropes and wooden beams to pull a car out of a creek. His answer was a boom with a pulley on a car chassis. Today’s tow trucks either hoist a car by the wheels or use a flatbed that tilts so the car can be driven or pulled on. A light bar with amber lamps sits on top of the cab.
A dump truck has an open bed at the back. Hydraulic oil pushes a cylinder up at the front of the bed, which lifts it at an angle. The tailgate swings open at the top, the load slides out, and the bed lowers again. Tanker trucks have walls inside called baffles. When liquid sloshes back and forth, the truck becomes unstable, and baffles calm the movement. Refrigerated trucks keep milk, meat, ice cream and frozen food fresh, because a cooling unit pumps cold air into the box.
Tips for Printing and Coloring
Standard A4 printer paper works well for crayons, colored pencils and most markers. If you plan to use watercolor or thick markers that soak through, try a heavier paper or card stock. Print at 100 percent scale, often called “actual size,” so the truck fills the page instead of shrinking into a corner. Turn on the black and white or grayscale setting to save color ink, since the outlines are already black.
Choose the sheet by the child, not by the truck. Toddlers and preschoolers do best with the very easy pages: one large truck, thick lines and big open areas that forgive wobbly strokes. Children in early elementary school can handle a dump truck with its load or a tow truck with a car on the bed. Older kids and adults will enjoy the detailed scenes, such as a rig at a rest stop or two trucks passing on the road. Those reward patience with tiny details like mirrors, hoses and grilles.
Start with the largest areas, such as the trailer or the truck body, and save the small parts for last. Pencils give the most control in tight spots. Markers and crayons fill big shapes quickly. A dark gray or black pencil makes tires and windows look deep.
What to Do With Finished Pages
- Build a truck yard. Cut out your colored trucks, glue them on cardboard and stand them up on a table to make a little parking lot or gravel pit for toy play.
- Decorate a bedroom or classroom wall. A row of colored rigs makes a lively border, and every truck looks different.
- Make a card. Fold a colored page in half and add a message. It works well for a birthday, a get well note or a thank you for a favorite driver.
- Start a road trip book. Staple the finished pages together with a colored cover. Kids can add stickers or write which trucks they spot on the highway.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are these truck coloring pages really free?
Yes. Every sheet is free to download and print for personal use at home. Click the picture to open the PDF, and print as many copies as you like. Nothing needs to be signed up for or paid.
What age are these coloring pages for?
They cover a wide range. Very easy sheets with a single large truck and thick outlines suit toddlers and preschoolers who are just getting used to crayons. Medium sheets fit children in the early school years. The detailed scenes are for older kids, teens and adults who like fine lines and busy pictures.
Which colors are correct for a truck?
You can use any colors you like, but real trucks follow some habits. Tractor units often come in strong, bold colors, while trailers are frequently white or light. Tow trucks are often yellow or white with orange warning lights. Garbage trucks are usually orange or green, and tanker trucks are typically silver or white. If you want a fantasy truck in purple with pink wheels, go for it.
What is the difference between a semi, a dump truck and a tow truck?
A semi has a cab that pulls a separate trailer through the fifth wheel coupling. A dump truck has an open bed at the back that tips up on a hydraulic cylinder to slide the load out. A tow truck carries or lifts other vehicles and has a light bar on the cab. Once you know these three shapes, you can tell most trucks apart at a glance.
Can I use these pages in a classroom?
Yes. Teachers can print them for lessons, quiet time, rainy day activities or a transportation theme. The mix of easy and detailed sheets makes it simple to give each student a page that suits their level. Pair a sheet with a short talk about what each truck carries and why it is built that way.
What should I do if the picture prints too small or gets cut off?
Check that the paper size is set to A4 and that the scale is set to fit the page or to actual size. If your printer uses letter paper, choose the “fit to page” option so no edges are lost. Then print again, and the whole truck will show up on the sheet.
