How to Draw a Watermelon – An Easy Step-by-Step Guide

Today’s “how to draw a watermelon” drawing tutorial will be quick and easy! We will teach you how to draw a watermelon realistically by taking you through the basic steps, as well as the coloring and shading process. Step 1: Draw the Main Shape of Your Watermelon Sketch

Begin this step by drawing individual lines along your watermelon. These should curve slightly to give your watermelon some depth. Within the sliced watermelon, draw small oval shapes to represent the seeds. Draw a rough outline, focusing on the top of the sliced watermelon.

Make use of a normal brush and red paint, and evenly paint the flesh of the sliced watermelon.

Step 6: Color the Seeds in Your Easy Watermelon Drawing 

With a fine, sharp brush and black paint, color each seed. Continue using lime paint, and evenly paint the thick rind layer of the sliced watermelon. Complete this step with brown paint, and color the stem of the whole watermelon.

Use a small, soft brush and white paint, and gently apply several bright spots to the skin of the whole and sliced watermelon. Continue with dark green paint, and add several dark spots to the skin. 

With a blending brush, begin to soften and blend the colors into one another.

Step 8: Add Patterns to Your Watermelon Drawing 

Make use of a medium soft brush and a combination of white and lime green paint, and apply rough scattered patterns along the curved lines drawn in step 3.

Select a soft brush and white paint, and add soft highlights to the whole watermelon.

Step 10: Add Texture to the Flesh

In this step, we will add light shading to the sliced watermelon. Begin by selecting a soft brush and a combination of maroon and gray paint, and paint along the lines of the seeds. 

With a fine, sharp brush and white paint, add several white spots along the flesh of the sliced watermelon.

Make use of a small, soft brush and a combination of red and white paint, and apply soft dabs to each seed. This will look as if the seeds are in the flesh and not just lying on top of it.
