Colors That Start With J: 239 Color Names and HEX Codes
J is a small letter with a surprisingly broad digital palette, from soft Jacaranda and Jasmine to dark Jet and saturated Jungle Green. This atlas gathers 239 color names beginning with J in one alphabetized reference with exact six-digit HEX values, matching RGB values, and visible swatches. It also explains how to use these labels without mistaking a creative catalog name for an official standard.
What Counts as a Color That Starts With J?
This atlas contains 239 digital color references whose displayed names begin with J. Each entry has one controlling six-digit HEX value from color-name-list version 14.51.0. Its RGB triplet and swatch follow directly from that value, so all three representations agree.

The pinned full catalog contains 331 J names, while its smaller Best Of subset contains 57. By comparison, the CSS Color Level 4 named-color table contains no keyword beginning with J. You can use #00A86B as an ordinary CSS color value, but jade is not a native CSS named-color keyword.
Standardized Keywords vs. Cataloged Names
A standardized CSS keyword belongs to a defined vocabulary that browsers recognize directly. A cataloged name is a human-curated label paired with a color value. It can be useful for browsing, naming palettes, and communicating within a project, but it does not automatically become a web standard, paint standard, pigment identity, or measured material sample.
Every entry below is marked Cataloged, meaning it is a non-standard catalog name rather than a CSS keyword. Geographical, botanical, mineral, and cultural-looking labels remain names only; they do not establish origin, composition, symbolism, or a physical match. For a broader foundation on hue, value, saturation, and relationships, see this guide to basic color theory.
Why One Color Name Can Have Different HEX Codes
Descriptive color names do not have to point to one universal digital value. In the catalog used here, Jasmine is #FFF4BB, Jazzberry Jam is #674247, Jelly Bean is #44798E, Jonquil is #EEF293, Jordy Blue is #7AAAE0, and Jungle Green is #048243. Another catalog assigns those same names #F8DE7E, #A50B5E, #DA614E, #FADA5E, #8AB9F1, and #29AB87, respectively.
That variation is why a reusable palette should preserve the HEX value, not just the name. The versioned catalog gives this atlas a consistent reference point without claiming that its associations are the only possible ones.
239 Colors That Start With J
The four tables are ordered alphabetically by displayed name. HEX is the controlling digital value, RGB is its direct decimal expression, and the Color cell shows the same sRGB reference. “Cataloged” identifies a non-standard catalog name rather than a native CSS named-color keyword.
Ja Colors
The Ja range moves from pale pinks and neutrals through blue, red, orange, purple, and a large cluster of green and blue-green Jade labels. Names such as Japanese Indigo or Japanese Carmine remain catalog labels here, not claims about regional traditions or physical colorants.

Je and Ji Colors
The Je and Ji entries show why the swatch and code matter more than assumptions based on a word. Jet is a dark gray at #343434, Jet d’Eau is a very light blue at #D1EAEC, and Jet Ski is a medium blue at #5492AF. A shared first word does not create a formal shade family.

How to Use J Color Codes
Use the atlas as a starting point, then verify the chosen color in its actual context. Preserve the six-digit HEX value during handoff, test text and backgrounds as a pair, and account for the intended screen or print workflow.

Using a HEX Reference in Digital Work
A six-digit HEX value encodes red, green, and blue components for an sRGB color. Copy the value, including its number sign, into a design application or a CSS declaration such as background-color: #00A86B;. Use the exact code when handing a palette to another designer, since the accompanying name may be interpreted differently elsewhere.
A color wheel can help identify useful hue relationships, but it does not replace viewing the actual HEX colors together. Test the palette at realistic sizes and in the interface where it will appear.
Checking Text Contrast
Do not decide text readability from a swatch’s apparent lightness alone. Test the exact foreground and background pair. For WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the minimum contrast ratio is 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large-scale text. WCAG defines large-scale text as at least 18 point in regular weight or 14 point in bold, or an equivalent size. Incidental text and logotypes are exceptions to this contrast requirement.
Color should also not be the only way an interface communicates meaning. A status color, for example, can include a label or icon so readers do not have to distinguish it by hue alone. Check hover, focus, disabled, and selected states as well as the default state.
Screen Color, Print Color, and Physical Materials
The tables describe sRGB-oriented digital references. A HEX code is not a recipe for paint, pigment, dye, or printing ink, and it does not guarantee that a printer can reproduce the same appearance. Displays and printers have different color capabilities, or gamuts, and surrounding light can change how the result looks.
When print matching matters, work with calibrated devices, the correct output profile, and a color-managed conversion. ICC profiles relate device values to a standard color space so software can transform color between a display and a printer. A physical proof remains valuable for demanding work.
Choosing a J Color by Visual Role
Start with the job the color must perform, then narrow the tables by apparent lightness, saturation, and hue. Evaluate the finalists beside their neighboring colors, at the intended text size, and in the target output medium.
Light Backgrounds and Soft Neutrals
Jasmine #FFF4BB, Japanese White #EEE6D9, Jet White #F2EDE2, Journey to the Sky #CDECED, and Joyful #F6EEC0 offer light fields with different hue biases. They can support dark interface text, but each exact pairing still needs a contrast test. A pale swatch beside white may also need a border to keep its edge visible.
Dark Anchors
Jacarta #440044, Jaguar #29292F, Japanese Sable #313739, Jet #343434, and June Bug #264A48 can ground navigation, headings, or large graphic areas. Their undertones differ, so compare them against the rest of the palette rather than treating all dark colors as interchangeable. White text may be a candidate, but only a measured contrast result can confirm it.
Bright Accents
Candidate accent colors include Jack-O #FB9902, Jasper Red #FA2B00, Jelly Berry #EE1177, John Lemon #EEFF22, and Jubilation #FBDD24. Compare each candidate in the actual layout, use it selectively for actions or graphic details, and make sure color is not the sole status cue. A carefully chosen complementary color can create deliberate hue contrast.
Greens and Blue-Greens
Jade #00A86B, Jade Mountain #34C2A7, Jungle Green #048243, Julep #57AA80, and Juniper #74918E span saturated green, teal-leaning color, and muted gray-green. For a lower-contrast palette, compare neighboring greens through an analogous color scheme. Keep enough lightness separation when those colors must distinguish data or interface states.
Frequently Asked Questions
These practical answers cover finding, saving, and combining entries from the atlas while keeping the displayed names and their exact digital references distinct.
How Can I Find a Specific Name in This Atlas?
Start with the Ja, Je and Ji, Jo, or Ju table, then use your browser’s page-search command for the exact name. You can also search for a six-digit HEX value when checking whether a code already appears.
What Should I Save With a Chosen J Color?
Save the displayed name, its complete six-digit HEX value, and the catalog version. The HEX value preserves the exact digital reference even if another catalog uses the same name for a different color.
Do Similar J Names Automatically Form a Palette?
No. Shared words such as Jade, Jet, or Joyful do not guarantee related hues or useful contrast. Compare the actual swatches, test the colors together in context, and measure any text-background pairs before adopting them as a system.
