How is a Rainbow Formed?
A rainbow is formed by the refraction of light in water droplets. When sunlight hits a drop of water, it is broken down into the different colors of the rainbow. This happens because the light in the water droplets is refracted and thus broken down into its components, called spectral colors.
The colors of the rainbow are, in the order in which they appear: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.
A rainbow can only be seen when there is both sunlight and water droplets. For example, when it rains, when the sun shines, or when there is a waterfall. There are also artificial rainbows created by using light and water, for example in water parks or in some gardens.
What are the Colors of a Rainbow?
Usually, the order of colors in a rainbow is red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. However, some people may also see colors like pink or brown in a rainbow, but these colors are not part of the rainbow spectrum.
