The Library
Welcome to Art in Context. Art in Context was established in 1995 to serve the international fine art community and general public by providing an online reference library for the publication and dissemination of information about artists and where to find their work. The library catalogues and presents information added by curators, dealers, artists, writers and others from around the world.
Today published references to the library place Art in Context in the top 1% of the most linked-to sites on the Internet. With the daily cataloguing and inclusion of additional information and new links, added by over 1000 curators, dealers, artists, writers and others from around the world, the library presently welcomes and assists over 6 million visitors annually. Art in Context is maintained by Art in Context Center for Communications, a publicly supported nonprofit organization and member Metropolitan New York Library Council and the Association of College and Research Libraries, American Library Association.
Programs supported in part by New York State Council on the Arts, Materials for the Arts, New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, The Chase Manhattan Foundation, Adobe Systems, Google, Microsoft, PSG Framing, Symantec, Fred Worden Trucking and the many friends and members of the library. Art in Context Center for Communications is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code.
